Chandler Municipal Airport (ICAO: KCHD, FAA LID: CHD) is a city-owned public-use airport located three miles (5 km) southeast of the central business district of Chandler, a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States.[1]
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Chandler Municipal Airport is assigned CHD by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned CHD to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona - since redesignated by the IATA as AZA).[2][3]
As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 1,231 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2005.[4] According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2007–2011, Chandler Municipal is a general aviation airport and is also categorized as a reliever airport.[5] The Chandler Municipal Airport operates more than 203,000 flights per year. It is one of the nation’s top 50 busiest general aviation airports. It adds to Arizona’s economy by bringing in more than $53 million annually. At present, no commercial airlines operate in and out of the Chandler Municipal Airport. There are no plans to introduce this service in the near future.[6]
The airport has built and improved a heliport facility, airport signage, and aircraft parking space by 10 acres with 90 tie-down spaces. These improvements were made over the last 6 years and cost about $7 million. Currently the privately owned parking spaces are at 100% capacity. Affiliated Property Management is the name of the company/HOA that controls the privately owned hangars.

It also has one helipad with a 100 x 100 ft (30 x 30 m) concrete surface.[1] There is also a diner on site, named the Hangar Cafe.
